Summer is here! In addition to taking summer dance classes, here are some fun and creative ways to keep dancing and working on your skills all summer long.
Stretch it out!
Take a moment to stretch while watching tv, reading a book, or just hanging out at home. Make it a new and fun experience by taking it outdoors. Lay down a yoga mat or towel and do some stretches in the grass, or forego the mat altogether and feel the earth beneath your feet.
Choreograph a dance of your own.
Take these summer months as a time to hone your own creativity. Round up some friends, cousins, or siblings and create a dance together. You can use skills you’ve learned from student choreography weeks to make your own masterpiece.
Take up a new physical activity.
Many professional dancers have a preferred type of exercise that they are involved in during their “off” season. For some, it’s swimming. For others, it’s cycling. If you find yourself with a lighter dance load this summer, why not try something new as a way to stay active?
No matter how you engage with dance this summer, we hope you have fun and stay healthy and safe. Happy dancing!
