THANK YOU to our Liberty Dance Center families for your generosity during our annual “lucky penny” drive for the MACC Fund. We donated $1,000 for having over 1,000 pennies brought in (2,844 to be exact). And one lucky dancer named Molly G. won a $30 cash prize for having the closest guess without going over!
It was such a cool way to see that we can make a difference, when everyone does even the smallest act of kindness. We are continually awed and appreciative of all the support our families give in going above and beyond to help others!
Service and Community
Liberty Dance Center’s mission incorporates service and community connection. This MACC Fund penny drive challenge began, in part, in honor of Miss Lori’s son, Thomas. Three years ago when Thomas had just turned two, he was diagnosed with a very rare form of leukemia.
The Liberty Dance Center community rallied around Miss Lori and her family as Thomas fought cancer for seven long months at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. Thanks to the clinical research trial provided by The MACC Fund, Thomas’ life was saved! He is a happy and strong 4-year-old today!
Miss Lori knew from the moment that Thomas was diagnosed that she had to do whatever she could to keep other families from having to go through the pain of a childhood cancer diagnosis.
She and her family have been relentless in their advocacy over the years for childhood cancer research funding, blood donation, and providing support for families fighting cancer.
Lori says,
“I’ve grown more as a person in the six years I’ve worked at Liberty Dance Center than I have in my entire adult life. This truly is a special place. Miss Kate is my role model and inspiration to reach my goals. My coworkers are always helping each other and we are so collaborative and encouraging.
The BEST part of Liberty Dance Center is our families! My family wouldn’t be where we are today without the love and support of our dance family. We are blessed to be part of an organization of the highest caliber of people AND professional dance instruction! Thank you for all that you do to help others.”
