It’s hard to believe we are already halfway through the month of February! 2022 is off to a great start at Liberty Dance Center. Soon, students will receive their recital costumes, and next month they will begin learning choreography for their recital dances! This time of year is the calm before the storm of excitement!
February is a time of year where we can find ourselves “halfway” in a lot of things. Halfway through the long Wisconsin winter. Halfway through our dance year. But, halfway is a great place to be in order to work on ourselves. The in-between times are where the best of our work can happen.
This is a time of year when dancers can focus on technique and stamina goals. As we work through these last weeks of February, can you challenge yourself to reach new heights? Shoot for that double pirouette. Try to remember longer stretches of choreography without watching the teacher or assistant teacher. Push yourself to safely work on your flexibility. Raise your hand or speak up more in class when the teacher asks a question. Talk to someone you haven’t had the chance to get to know yet at the studio. In a time of year when it’s easy to get complacent, check in with yourself to keep things moving forward.
Don’t forget our February challenge of focusing on loving yourself! We have paper and writing utensils for you to write a love note to yourself and post it at the studio. With Valentine’s Day coming up, we want to see those halls chock-full of hearts! Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone! You are loved.
