“Fall is proof that change is beautiful”
I saw this quote on a friend’s Facebook page the other day and it just resonated with me. Fall is my personal favorite holiday, which is ironic because I would not consider myself great when it comes to change. But seeing that quote made me rethink how I view change. It IS beautiful and just takes a change of perspective.
Take dance class for example…this season your dancer may have a new teacher. The first few weeks may have been hard because it was different. That’s one of the things I love about the teachers here at Liberty Dance Center. While we all have the same underlying values and mission when it comes to teaching, we all have our own personal style when it comes to how we actually go about teaching.
That can be hard for students. Hey, it can be hard for us as teachers too! Each season we have totally different groupings of kids. That means different skill levels, different dynamics and personalities and different goals. But that’s also part of the fun! It is what keeps it interesting and challenging.
No two seasons or classes are the same and that’s a great thing! So I hope our students view it that way as well. There’s something new and different about each class, teacher and dance season!
We have experienced a lot of change over the past 18 months, that’s for sure! Things that were constants in our lives, suddenly weren’t the way they always had been. We had to make many different pivots and changes. Some actually ended up being for the better! Some we probably never would have thought of or considered had we not been forced to change the way we did it. While I may not have felt grateful for it at the time, I am certainly grateful now.
Change can be hard and uncomfortable, it’s a part of life. So while you are outside getting your daily walk or run in (remember, that’s our challenge for October), I challenge you to take a look at the changing leaves and trees and try changing your perspective on change. Don’t see it as a bad thing, but as something that is inevitable and beautiful. Like a perfect fall day in Wisconsin.
