After dealing with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic for over a year, getting our dancers back on stage was more important than ever. We were proud to be able to put on 7 shows this past weekend!
Feeling the excitement and seeing sparkling eyes backstage brought joy to our hearts. These dancers worked so hard this past year and getting back on stage to perform in front of a live audience was a very important step to bring some “normalcy” to our students. Parents and family members couldn’t wait to watch and cheer on their dancers, both in person and via our livestream, to celebrate all of the hard work and challenges the dancers (and families) faced this past year.
There were a few obstacles that we had to overcome to be able to produce a live show. We went from having 4 longer shows in the past to producing 7 shorter shows this year. Theater audience capacity was only able to be 1/3 of our usual number, but that didn’t matter because the excitement in the building was never more evident. Seeing the dancers in their beautiful, colorful costumes and posing for pictures with their classmates and family members was incredible. It was truly a memorable experience for everyone involved. There were many happy tears shed in the audience and many new memories made backstage.
The studio theme this past year was, “Stay Strong. There is always a rainbow after every storm.” Our show weekend was truly that rainbow after the storm of last year. The dancers learned many life lessons over the past 15 months from adapting to change, to overcoming challenges and making new friends. Getting to put on a show in front of a live audience made it all worth it and we know these kids are stronger today than a year ago.
