Recital is just over one week away! Here are three easy ways to be prepared for the big day.
Practice!
We’ve been working hard all season and the recital is the big event we’ve been waiting for. We practice at the studio, but you can always practice at home too.
The more you do your dance full-out (in addition to reviewing it in your head), the more it will be committed to muscle memory. That means, even if you freeze up and have a moment of nervousness on stage, your body will still know what to do!
Hydrate and Fuel Up
In the days leading up to recital, be sure to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. With the weather warming up and lots of outdoor playtime happening, it’s easier to get dehydrated than you might think.
It’s also important to eat foods that give you enough nutrients and sustained energy. Try to avoid junk foods and sugary sodas and juices.
Start Packing Well in Advance
Don’t wait until the night before to get everything together for the theater. Start a designated bag of any supplies you’ll need. Don’t forget to label EVERYTHING too! Inevitably, things always get left behind at the theater. It makes it a lot easier to return them to their proper home if they’re labeled with your initials.
In the whirlwind of all the big events this time of year, try to breathe and just soak in the moment when the recital comes. You’ve put in the work and effort, and now is the time to enjoy, dance your heart out, and shine!
